DOING BUSINESS WITH DREAM COME TRUE ALPACAS
Our business focus is customer satisfaction. We have established a network of alpaca owners that we work and do business with. Judy is working our business full-time now and will be able to offer full-time support to our customers’ needs. We offer a wide-range of support for our customers. Some of the services we offer are outlined below:
- Breeding services—We will help arrange transportation for your female (and her cria, if applicable) to our farm. Once at our farm, your lady will be assimilated into our female herd population. We will personally supervise the breeding to the herd-sire of your choice. Once the breeding is confirmed (behavior testing), your female will continue to reside at our farm until ultrasound testing confirms pregnancy. A live birth guarantee is included in the fee (AOBA standard clause). (Progesterone testing can also be performed at owners’ expense.) Routine care (de-worming, toenails, etc.) will be performed by us; non-routine care will be charged to owners at our farms’ vet fee. We will help arrange transportation for your female back to your farm.
- Show services—we will take your animal (s) to selected shows and show the animal in the halter class ring. Services include filling out the requisite paperwork, arranging for the necessary veterinary testing and paperwork to be acquired, transportation to and from the show, pre-show grooming of your animal, photos of ribbon winning animals, and care at the show. Similar to the breeding services fee, our fee includes all of the above services—only non-routine veterinary costs might be additional.
- Brokerage services—while we would prefer our customers to purchase alpacas from us, we will assist our customers in purchasing alpacas from other farms. This assistance will include a visual examination of the animal for conformance and a visual examination of the animal’s fleece. Paperwork verification would be performed. Health records will be reviewed. Showmanship records will be reviewed. We will assist in negotiating a purchase contract with the seller and assist in negotiation of price, if desired. All brokerage fees are lump sum—no hidden extras of any kind.
- Business plan development services—we will assist in the development of your business plan. After discussion with you, we will provide the basic framework for your plan. Once you approve of the basic framework and concepts of your plan, we will add the necessary details and time line (usually 5 to 10 years) to the plan. Metrics will be included so that you will be able to measure your progress against the plan on a semi-annual or annual basis.
- Consulting services—we will provide consultation services to our customers free of charge. These services will include assistance in selecting a vet, husbandry suggestions, barn, fence, pasture layout, food, water—assistance in virtually any aspect of the alpaca business.

- Agisting—we have the ability to care for our customer’s animals, if desired. Our fee for agisting is comparable to what other farms charge ($3.00 per day), and includes food, water, de-worming shots, nail trimming and a health record. We routinely weigh the animals and will provide weight charts upon request. Additional charges to the fee would be incurred by vet routine visits or any vet charges that are specifically related to your animal.
